This benefit payment t is offered as a minimum income payment for people in particular circumstances, in line with the Carinthian Minimum Income Act. Such circumstances refer to the ability to obtain or keep a place to live, build or secure a livelihood, or overcome situations of hardship. This benefit is a one-off payment that is tied to a specific purpose. Applicants do not hold a legal claim to this payment.
In connection with the Covid-19 crisis, application and payment procedures have been simplified to be as unbureaucratic as possible. Applications may be made online. In particular for older persons who may not have Internet access, there are uncomplicated ways of applying over the telephone.

- Help and financial support for families in hardship
Families who are currently in a particularly difficult social and/or financial situation may claim this one-off payment from the department for family services (Familienreferat). This benefit payment is offered in particular for building or securing a livelihood or overcoming situations of hardship.

- Family Friday – online
The Familienreferat has organised the “Family Friday – online” series to provide digital information and an exchange platform for families. Parenting counsellors talk about family- and childcare-related themes at 10am and 8pm on Friday, giving tips and advice. Participants also have the option of asking questions and talking among themselves. This is a free service.

- Free tuition with the Kärntner Familienkarte
Using the Kärntner Familienkarte, school kids from year 1 to year 9 have access to free tuition in all Carinthian districts. In total, 20 hours of free tuition in maths, German or English may be used. The tuition programme offered by the youth services department (Landesjugendreferat) is delivered in cooperation with the adult education centres (Volkshochschulen, VHS) and aims at supporting children who are struggling in school, independent of their parents’ income. - Buy vouchers from local businesses online
An attractive holiday and leisure package with hotels as well as a selection of day trips and family adventures has now been added to the Carinthian voucher programme, organised by the Province of Carinthia, Kärnten Werbung, and the Chamber of Commerce in Carinthia. The voucher platform www.kaernten.at/gutscheine includes nearly all Carinthian tourism regions, the Kärnten Card as well as Genussland Kärnten. The platform www.daspackma.at may now also be used to search for hotels, private rentals or farmstay holidays that sell vouchers. The businesses may register on the homepage and sell their vouchers via this platform.
- Support for sports in Carinthia
The subdivision “Sportkoordination Kärnten” always strives for unbureaucratic, practical solutions. - Support for tourism
At https://touris.kaernten.at/ ou will find the tourism information system of Kärnten Werbung with useful information and downloads for guests and accommodation providers. The “Recovery Plan Kärnten 2020” (https://touris.kaernten.at/recovery-plan.html) is drawn up by Kärnten Werbung, in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce, the Province of Carinthia, and representatives of the individual tourism segments. The recovery plan is updated and adapted on an ongoing basis.
- Special regulations for state taxes
The Province of Carinthia offers a payment deferral for state taxes without interest. This includes the tourism and nature conservation tax, but also the motorboat tax. Please note that each individual application must plausibly explain why the effects of the Covid-19 crisis have created a liquidity shortage that constitutes a hardship situation for the applicant. - 24-hour care bonus
The Covid-19 crisis has led to a shortage of care staff, in particular in rural areas. To counteract this situation, the federal government has decided to pay a bonus to those 24-hour carers who decide to extend their turn. - Payment of consultancy services
To help Carinthian businesses make the most of federal programmes, the cost of consultancy services is covered by the KSG (100% subsidiary of the KWF). - Video tips for all the family
The Covid-19 pandemic has been a particular challenging time for families. To master their everyday routine, families often need support and assistance. The family services department of the Province of Carinthia offers tips and advice for parents via video message, given by established Carinthian parenting counsellors.

- Holiday offers with the Kärntner Familienkarte
The Kärntner Familienkarte offers affordable holiday camps at lakes or in the mountains as well as discount holiday packages for children and young people during the summer and autumn holidays.

- Financial support for childcare during the holidays
Low-income families will again receive financial support to pay for childcare during the summer holidays in 2021. The deadline for applications is 31 October. This payment is degressive and cannot exceed EUR 400 per child. Each application must come with a proof income as well as the invoice of the childcare provided during the holidays.
